La Yu Available

It is with regret that I must make the La Yu available for sale. Family issues prevent me from having much time to spend with the boat. In fact, as of yet, no time has been available to prepare the boat for launch.

I realize that almost all of you who read the blog have your own boat and do not reside in this, the Metro Detroit, area.  However, you may have a contact that would have interest in acquiring an exceptional Columbia 8.3 that is equipped and has been well maintained.

An opening price of $8000 seems reasonable. Offers will be considered.

  1. Hi Carl. Good luck on the sale. I think that's a very reasonable price, especially considering the work you've done. I've recently acquired an 8.3 and your blog frequently comes up in my searches. This may be a silly question but can you give me any advice on the mast and how you took yours down. This is only my second sailboat and I can't figure out my mast (which I fear may be the cause of cabin leaks). I ultimately may want to trailer the boat as well and would like to know the amount of work in taking it down. If you have time to respond, I would appreciate it.

    1. We have always used professional help and a gin pole. We have no comment on any other method.
